93 points James Suckling
A chewy Brunello with linear and lightly austere tannins that buttress the bright fruit character. Medium body, silky tannins and a vivid finish. Beautiful intensity.
91 points Wine Enthusiast
Star anise, forest floor, mature dark-skinned fruit and a whiff of menthol perfume this structured red. The taut, full-bodied palate offers dried black cherry, licorice and pipe tobacco flavors, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2020–2027.
Silvio Nardi Description
Brunello Manachiara is the wine of sunrise, the wine from the East. Manachiara's vineyard is located in the East side of Montalcino with a South-East exposure at approximately 300 m a.s.l. and composed of sands rich in quartz and pliocene clays. Vines are planted using training system of spurred cordon with 4,500 plants per hectar. Harvest is conducted manuallly into cases in last week of September. The juice is fermented for at least 25 days at a controlled temperature of 82°F. After maceration the wine is matured for 18 months in French oak Tonneaux (Allier); followed by 12 months in large oak barrels from Slavonia. Finally the wine is bottle aged for at least 12 months.
